It's two days to love day! Valentine's Day is called a useless holiday or "dumb" or people will say "My husband and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day; we love each other every day!" OK. Just say neither of you are romantic or one of you is and the other is miserable, whatever floats YOUR boat. I hate nothing more than when people try and make you feel stupid for being excited about something, sorry I'm not completely dead inside yet, Susan. CAN I LIVE? "But uh, back to the lecture at hand Perfection is perfected, so I'ma let 'em understand from a young G's perspective" why Valentine's Day is groovy AF and I need you all to get down with the get down AND if you don't have a Valentine, LOVE YOURSELF extra that day because you deserve it.
It reminds us to focus on the love we have in our lives and in ourselves. I know we shouldn't NEED the reminder only once a year and we should be loving ourselves daily but, sometimes you just need that reminder in today's world. It gives us the opportunity to stop and think and possibly make changes in our own lives to make us happier and in turn make the people around us happier too.
Red is a POWER COLOR. It had me at POWER COLOR. Did you know that everything has a spiritual significance? I found on crystalclearintuition.com "The spiritual representation of red is power, energy, vitality, dominance, action, assertion, creation, survival and passion. When a spiritual sign appears in your life that is red, it usually represents that you are ready to take action on a new goal or project that you have been putting off." Wear more red and not just on V-day, find ways to incorporate the color into your routine when you are feeling powerless or weak, we all have those days!
The heart symbolism is huge as well, the heart signifies the core of our beings. Which always takes me back to my most favorite Bible quote of all time "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" Proverbs 4:23 (side note, I've loved this verse for DECADES now and turns out the numbers from that verse signify ALL THREE of my children, 4 represents the month April, which is the birth month of my two youngest children and 23 represents the day of my oldest child's birth. No coincidences!)
Chocolate. Like, that's a full sentence, there is nothing left to explain here.
THE MUSIC! Who does love a good red light special playlist? From Motown to classic rock, I got a song for any situation. I will say that I was really mad that a certain R&B singer decided to be a dirtball because he used to make up the vast majority of my red-light special playlist but, now all I think about is the documentary about how gross he is. I'm sure you can guess, if you need a hint Dave Chappelle has a whole skit about it and it involves human excrement. Nothing about that is sexy to me.
An excuse to REALLY go on a date night and do it up, all fancy like. No, don't do this ON Valentine's Day though, not without a reservation anyway! Pick day to celebrate your love or others and yourself and go big or go home, ANY excuse to get all dolled up for me.
Speaking of red-light special playlists, I've decided to take it upon myself to create a list for you to pick your favorites from and start your own if you don't have one already. This is my go-to tub playlist, kitchen music (I'm a FIRM believer in if you listen to soulful music and sing along while dancing, your food will taste 3000% better because it IS actually made with love and not annoyance, try it! lol) and the obvi. Let me know what I'm missing, I'm always looking for new songs and songs I have forgotten about, enjoy!
It's no secret, I'm obsessed with Savage X Fenty by Rihanna and I personally own a LOT of her collections even before this whole blogging venture started. I admit at first, I wasn't sold, I got these super cute boy shorts and they ripped in the wash the first time but, the quality has really come a long way and I've been more than pleased in the last year with how they have fixed the issues and really listened to the customer. I also support them most, and this is probably the #1 reason, because they embrace and celebrate ALL BODY TYPES for ALL genders. You won't just find runway models on the site and it really helps to be able to relate to how you look and feel in something on someone with your body type, it's also just nice to see REAL life people and the industry embracing this change. I know that in my teen years the only "beauty" I had to look at looked identical, blonde, tall and skinny (which IS beautiful, I'm not trying to take away from that at all) and it is nice to be able to look at someone and say, "This resonates with me!" so, a great big thank to Rihanna and the Savage X Fenty team for using this mind set when designing and marketing.

Gawd, I love Science. Who would've thought that a scent could drive another person insane but, welcome to my world! LOL! I've been a big believer in pheromones since a young adult, mostly because I enjoy the way they make me smell personally. Since then, I have learned of some additional benefits that some people believe are directly associated with pheromone oil, here are just a couple...
Seven Souls - Love Spell (Honey/Rose Petals/Sandalwood/Pheromones Blend) and you can get it at Walmart even but, if you're into witchy things, I HIGHLY recommend ANY Feromonas brand roll on fragrances, ESP Haitian Binding and Road Opener. They can be difficult to find online but, I get mine from The Crystal Fox in Laurel, Md. and they also have them at Crystals, Candles and Cauldrons (I think that's the right order lol) in Hampden, which if you haven't been to Hampden, I think you should take a drive and go shopping and grab something to eat, it's a really cute little place!
What if I told you if you're over 30, you probably already have the necessary items in your bathroom because we're all old and achy AF! I've made this a part of my rituals weekly, I LOVE a hot bath after a long week but, bubbles don't work for my skin so, I started experimenting with different things and I found that "ritual baths" are WAY more relaxing and much better for ME personally. If you know me, you know intention is how I manifest my whole life. EVERYTHING has a significance with me, everything. Colors, smells, crystals, numbers, literally MOST things have meaning to me so ritual baths are, for me, basically a potion to soak in! I've done a million different varieties and I will spare you on all the different ways you can do it and give you the recipe for the one I think most adults will benefit most from, however, please, please, please reach out to me if you have a specific need and I'll gladly help you find the right mix for you and your needs.
I have to issue a disclaimer here, everyone is different, everyone reacts different to different things, this works for ME and is absolutely worth a shot in my opinion. I am an insomniac, as most of you know. Some nights I don't sleep AT ALL and I'm just up all night researching things and rabbitholing, nothing works really to help me sleep EXCEPT, of all things, lavender. I know it's so cliche, I get it but, I can't explain how any time I use my homemade linen spray "Beauty Sleep", I sleep. I fall right to sleep, and I sleep! Some nights it may only be for a couple of hours but, the fact that I fall right out when I use it blows my mind. Doing me one better though, when I do a lavender ritual bath, I sleep all night. Here is what I do personally but there is no wrong way to do it, have fun with and invite your honey to join ya!
You can JUST use the Epsom salt and oils if you're not into all that because I PROMISE you it works! Dr. Teals never fails me, and they make a lavender scented Epsom salt that you can check out here. Dr. Teals is most definitely my favorite, and they make a million different scents for focus, sleep, calming of the mind, glow and radiance, aches and pains, etc. Here is the FULL LIST of Dr. Teal's products available at Walmart since they are close to everyone!
