I think Rihanna said it best when she proudly proclaimed, "Cheers to the freakin' weekend!" And I'll drink to that! Coffee that is because it is 08:38 and it is simply NOT that kind of party here!
Today's card is the 3 of Swords and it could not be more appropriate, in my opinion, for the current state of the Country. As I've said, I'm pretty new to Tarot and never had an interest in it at all, it fell into my lap and I'm glad it did because it really has helped me personally and those close to me and that's my only mission in my life on this weird ass planet, to help people because it's HARD out here for the pimp in ALL of us, amiright? That being said, I still like to read the little excerpts in the book that came with it (amateur, whatever....we all have to start somewhere!) and then just write whatever comes to my mind from there, sometimes I don't even know what I wrote until it's done and I read it over again, it sounds crazy I know but, like, the Cheshire Cat informed me at a young age that "We're all mad here" and I have steadily ran with it and I have ALWAYS written it down even before this, I have a notebook and all my friends will vouch, I usually ALWAYS send them theirs in writing, handwriting is just more time consuming and who TF has time these days because not it. I swear I'm reeling it in.....maybe.
The verbiage that stuck out to me the most for this one is as follows...
"Throughout history people have been forced to display a mark of shame, a stigma to deter others. This taps into something very primal. In early humans, where survival was intimately linked with collaboration, to be rejected by your tribe was effectively a death sentence. In later cultures, artists, writers, intellectuals, anyone who dared to think differently and admit a different sexual orientation risked being shamed and outcast. The violence and suffering humans beings can inflict on other humans - indeed, all living creatures - beggars belief. And yet it exists and cannot be ignored."
"The Three of Swords suggests the quality of your life experience is directly proportional to the quality of the questions you ask. And so another interpretation of the figure emerges, as one who like the Buddha, sits determined to penetrate the truth. He will not move from his spot until he has an answer. Many spiritual teachings describe how we must describe how we must go down through layer after layer of our personality, until we get to the last layer and fall through into a meaningless and empty space. But, if we are able to fall yet through into the darkness of meaningless, we arrive at 'nothing'. And from nothing we can create anything. This card tells us that our sorrow MUST be acknowledged, the despair is something we all share. When we see how it carries the seeds of new growth we can surrender to it, allowing it to move through and transform us." -Lo Scarabeo "Starman Tarot"
It's really hard for a lot of us to see the good in the world today. There are innocent people getting hurt and killed while the bad guys get away with things, there's people in position of authority doing horrible things to the vulnerable people they are in charge of, there's harsh judgement and criticism all around us and it's justified by people of power which makes us feel like we are right when we're still wrong. There's natural disasters and war and school shootings and just UNFATHOMABLE events happening more and more which is making people become desensitized OR break down. I say it all the time, the problem with the world (according to Colleen) is lack of empathy and allowing people to get away with things that you should have slapped the shit out of them for, I mean there's probably more but, I'm only one person. I feel like this card is urging everyone who is reading it to practice patience and empathy no matter what you THINK the situation is because we truly never know what someone else is dealing with, most people today are not open books. If you're struggling and feel like there is no way out, reach out to someone. I promise you're not alone and there are so many people out here that can relate to your feelings and want to be there to support you either because someone did it for them or because NO ONE did it for them. Most importantly, if you notice other people are off or struggling, reach out to THEM because if you've ever been at rock bottom you know that you can truly feel like no one cares and it's pointless to reach out. We just need to take better care of each other, man. In a selfish ass world, we need to be reminded that "we're not cut out to face this world alllooooonnnnnneeeee" (quoting Bayside lyrics is a life skill that I've mastered. There's a Bayside lyric for like everything! Transitive Property, get with it, you're welcome).
If you're able to be the light in the darkness of 2021, don't keep it to yourself because your people need it more than ever and if you're in the dark right now, look for the beacon. If not a person, a passion. We all have the power within ourselves to pull out of anything that doesn't serve us positively but, some people just need a little assistance realizing their power. Never assuming that anyone else can handle a heavy load just because you could. If you need someone, hit that members chat any time or my number is available as well.
I hope you all have a beautiful Saturday on this Halloween Eve!
And if you need some pointers on the signs and symptoms of , how you can help and additional information, here ya go....
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/ - this site has SO much information from case studies and blog posts under the "impact" tab to getting certified to present courses on your own to training in areas specializing in teens, public safety, workplace, veterans, etc.
I'm not saying this will qualify you to facilitate interventions or anything so don't go running with that but, for every day people hoping to help their community I think having that information can be really helpful.
